Office Pilates Classes: What you need to know:
Corporate Pilates (also known as office Pilates) is the mat-based Pilates class — delivered in your London office, Chester workplace, UK headquarters or to your global team virtually. Real Pilates, real teachers, real impact on posture, core strength and mid-back tension — just brought to you.
It’s the workshop teams book when they want a serious, body-aware practice as part of their wellbeing offer: stronger core, better posture, less back pain, more energy through the working day.
We deliver office Pilates classes in London, Chester and across the UK, and virtually to teams worldwide.
Why Corporate Pilates?
Led by hand-picked teachers and tailored for every body and ability, a Corporate Pilates class blends controlled movement, breath and posture work to:
- Strengthen the core — the foundation of posture and back health
- Address back, neck and shoulder pain from prolonged sitting. A recent study found that Pilates enhances core stability and spinal alignment, leading to a 75% reduction in workplace discomfort.
- Improve posture and body awareness — directly translates to how people sit at their desks
- Reduce stress and cortisol — like yoga, but with a strength dimension. research shows that Pilates lowers stress hormones (cortisol) by 30% and improves mood more effectively than other low-impact exercises.
- Boost energy mid-day or after work
- Support mental wellbeing through breath and mindful movement
Whether your team is fully office-based, hybrid or remote, Corporate Pilates is the workshop teams book when they want measurable improvements in how they feel in their body.
Some of our Office Pilates Clients:
We have hundreds of office Pilates clients. Here are few you may recognise:

Particularly valuable for: London UK offices with knowledge worker teams; HR and wellbeing leads building out a year-round wellbeing programme; organisations tracking MSK absence patterns; teams who’ve tried yoga and want a strength-based complement.
Corporate Pilates, Office Pilates, Mat Pilates — what’s the difference?
The terms can be confusing, so:
Pilates is different from yoga: Pilates focuses on core, posture and controlled strength; yoga focuses on flexibility, breath and stillness. Many teams book both — see Corporate Yoga.
Corporate Pilates / Office Pilates are the same thing — both refer to Pilates classes delivered in a workplace context. This page.
Mat Pilates is the format we deliver — performed on a mat, no specialist equipment needed. The most accessible and workplace-friendly Pilates format.
Reformer Pilates uses specialist machines and is studio-based — not something we deliver in workplaces.
What to expect
Each Corporate Pilates class combines:
- Controlled movement — pitched for mixed-ability groups
- Core and posture work — the heart of Pilates
- Breathwork — built into every Pilates movement
- Posture reset exercises that translate directly to desk life
- Short relaxation — final wind-down
Classes are taught by a hand-picked, fully certified corporate Pilates teacher — the same teacher each week wherever possible, so your team builds a relationship with the practice.

What our Corporate Pilates clients say
Our corporate Pilates teachers

Every Corporate Pilates class is delivered by a hand-picked, fully certified Pilates teacher with specific experience teaching workplace and corporate groups. We work with experienced teachers who understand what desk-bound bodies actually need, not gym-style Pilates instructors who default to advanced choreography.
We match the teacher to your team. London team that wants energising lunchtime Pilates? You get a teacher who specialises in that. Chester office wanting a quieter, restorative Friday afternoon class? Different teacher, different style.
Stretching the City was founded in 2009 by Sally Lovett. We’ve spent 17 years building the UK’s most established corporate Pilates and yoga roster.
How Corporate Pilates pairs with other workshops
Corporate Pilates is most often booked as part of a wider wellbeing programme. Strongest pairings:
Pair with the Mindfulness Introduction: Pilates trains the body, mindfulness trains the mind — strong combination for wellbeing weeks.
Pair with Corporate Yoga: Two complementary practices — Pilates for core strength and posture, yoga for flexibility and stress. Many clients alternate weekly classes.
Pair with Chair Yoga / Desk Yoga: Chair Yoga as the everyone-can-do-it accessible option, Corporate Pilates as the deeper strength-based weekly practice.
Pair with the Breathwork Workshop: Pilates teaches breath through movement; the Breathwork Workshop teaches the breath science explicitly. Strong combination.
Pair with the Wellbeing at Work Workshop: Sally’s signature workshop on the healthy working day, with Corporate Pilates as the embodied weekly practice.

Office Pilates FAQs
Is this corporate Pilates or office Pilates? What’s the difference?
They’re the same thing — the terms are used interchangeably. “Corporate Pilates” is the formal product name; “office Pilates” is the everyday term. Both refer to mat-based Pilates classes delivered in a workplace context.
Is this mat Pilates or reformer Pilates?
Mat Pilates. We deliver corporate mat Pilates only — no specialist equipment needed beyond a mat. Reformer Pilates requires specialist machines and is studio-based, so it’s not practical for workplace delivery.
Do you deliver corporate Pilates in London?
Yes — London is our most established city. We have a hand-picked roster of London-based corporate Pilates teachers covering the City, Canary Wharf, Soho, Shoreditch, Kings Cross, Paddington and beyond.
Do participants need Pilates experience?
No. Classes are pitched for mixed-ability groups and the teacher offers modifications throughout. Beginners and experienced practitioners can practise together comfortably.
Pilates FAQS Logistics
What do participants need to bring?
A mat and activewear. For in-person London bookings we can supply mats if needed. If your team doesn’t want to change clothes, book Chair Yoga instead — it’s designed to be done in work clothes.
Can we book Pilates as a one-off, or only as a regular programme?
Both. One-off classes work well for wellbeing days, summer programmes and team away-days. Most established clients move to a weekly or fortnightly booking once they’ve seen the demand from the team. Multi-class bundles are priced more favourably than one-offs.
What’s the difference between Corporate Pilates and Corporate Yoga?
Pilates focuses on core strength, posture and controlled movement — particularly useful for back pain and desk-related stiffness. Yoga focuses on flexibility, breath and stillness — particularly useful for stress and nervous system regulation. Many clients alternate the two as a weekly programme. See Corporate Yoga for the yoga page.
What does it cost?
Pricing depends on whether you’re booking one-off, a block, or ongoing weekly classes, plus location. Multi-class bundles and weekly programmes are priced more favourably than one-offs. Book a discovery call and we’ll send a clear quote within 48 hours.

Corporate Yoga / Office Yoga
AUDIENCE: Flexibility · Breath · Stress · Nervous system
Where Pilates focuses on core strength and posture, yoga focuses on flexibility, breath and stress. Two complementary practices — many clients alternate weekly Corporate Pilates and Corporate Yoga as a year-round programme that covers strength, flexibility and stress reduction together.

Breathwork Workshop
AUDIENCE: Nervous system regulation · No equipment needed · Hybrid teams
Pilates teaches breath through movement; the Breathwork Workshop teaches the breath science explicitly. Strong standalone session for teams who want the nervous system training without the full Pilates practice — and a natural complement to regular Pilates classes.

Chair Yoga / Desk Yoga
AUDIENCE: Most accessible format · No mat or activewear · Whole-team inclusive
The seated, low-barrier movement format — done at the desk, no mat or activewear needed. A natural complement to Corporate Pilates: Pilates as the deeper strength-based weekly practice, Chair Yoga as the inclusive whole-team format for everyone else.
