Confidence at work workshop

Confidence at Work Workshop: What you need to know:

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Format: Live in-person UK or virtually worldwide
  • Capacity: Up to 100 in-person or unlimited virtual
  • Audience: Individual contributors, teams, women’s networks and ERGs where confidence is a live theme
  • Take-aways: Slide deck, recording (virtual), Three practical techniques for meetings, written communication and high-stakes moments, plus a one-action commitment, on-demand version available.
  • Lead time: 2–3 weeks

A 60-minute practical webinar on the habits that quietly undermine confidence — and the behavioural science that shifts them.

Most people aren’t lacking capability. They’re lacking the habit of acting on it.

Confidence at work isn’t a personality trait some people are born with. It’s a set of habits — the ones that show up in whether you speak first in the meeting or wait to be asked, whether you send the email or over-explain in it, whether you back your own judgement or default to someone else’s.

Our Confidence at Work Workshop gets underneath those patterns and gives participants practical tools to shift them. Grounded in behavioural science and self-perception research, this is an honest, evidence-based hour that leaves people with three specific things they can use the following week — not vague affirmations or “just believe in yourself” advice.

What this Confidence at Work Workshop covers

  • Why confidence isn’t a fixed trait — what the neuroscience actually says, and why the “some people just have it” narrative is misleading (and unhelpful).
  • The habits that erode confidence over time — the over-explaining, the holding back in meetings, the defaulting to others, the softening of every strong statement. How to spot them in yourself before they compound.
  • Where your confidence already shows up — everyone has domains where they act confidently without thinking. We map those and use them as a foundation for extending the same pattern elsewhere.
  • Behavioural activation — the research-backed principle that acting first and feeling it second is the right model. Why waiting to feel confident before acting is the trap that keeps people stuck.
  • Three practical techniques — specific, evidence-based tools for meetings, written communication, and high-stakes moments. Not affirmations. Actions.

The session blends behavioural science with practical application. No theory without a specific tool that comes with it. Every participant leaves with one action they’ll take differently in the week that follows.

Confidence at Work Workshop outcomes:

After the session, participants typically leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of what confidence actually is (and isn’t) — grounded in behavioural science rather than pop psychology
  • Practical awareness of the specific habits eroding their confidence at work — from over-explaining to hedging language to holding back contributions
  • Three specific techniques for meetings, communication and high-stakes moments they can apply immediately
  • A concrete one-action commitment for the following week — chosen and named by them, not prescribed by the facilitator
  • Understanding of how behavioural activation works — why the “act first, feel it second” model is genuinely how confidence builds

Who this Confidence at Work Workshop is for

This workshop works hardest when one of these describes your team or audience:

  • Individual contributors who’ve stepped up and not quite grown into the role. They have the capability. They haven’t yet built the habit of acting from it consistently. This workshop helps close that gap.
  • Teams where self-doubt is limiting contribution. The best ideas often go unshared because the person holding them isn’t sure they’re worth saying. This workshop equips people to change that pattern.
  • Women’s networks and ERGs where confidence is a persistent theme. Confidence-adjacent conversations come up repeatedly in women’s networks. This session gives networks a specific, evidence-based hour that goes deeper than the usual “believe in yourself” content.
  • Anyone who is capable of more than they’re currently showing. The person who does great work quietly but never gets the promotion. The team member with brilliant ideas who defers in every meeting. The manager who hedges every statement out of politeness. This workshop is built for exactly these patterns.

Particularly valuable for: professional services teams navigating career progression, tech and startup teams with recently-promoted managers, financial services teams under high-stakes visibility, women’s networks running signature confidence events, and any organisation building manager capability from the individual contributor pipeline.

What our clients say:

Jamie_Oliver_Group_corporate_wellbeing_provider

Some great tips on how to overcome imposter syndrome and I liked the interactive nature of the workshop. An excellent, enthusiastic, knowledgeable trainer.

The content of the Imposter Syndrome session was really interesting, and I think this workshop will be one we’re asked to repeat again at some point!

workplace_wellbeing_buzzacott

I really enjoyed the interactive aspects of the workshop – both the polls and the time to reflect. I’ve actually learned a lot about my own imposter syndrome by simply jotting down answers to the questions raised during the session, and I picked up a few ideas on how to tackle it going forward.

How this workshop pairs with others

Confidence at Work often opens up wider conversations. The workshops that pair most naturally:

  • Pair with the Imposter Syndrome Workshop — for teams who want to go deeper. Confidence at Work covers the behavioural habits; Imposter Syndrome covers the underlying thought patterns. Frequently booked together for women’s networks and early-careers programmes.
  • Pair with the Boundary Setting Workshop — for teams where confidence and boundaries are the linked challenge (saying no, protecting priorities, managing workload).
  • Book alongside Wellbeing for Graduates — for graduate schemes and early-career cohorts. Confidence at Work is often the follow-up session at the end-of-first-quarter check-in.
  • Add Mental Health Training for Managers — for organisations where managers need to spot and support team members whose confidence is limiting their contribution.

Many organisations book Confidence at Work as part of a signature women’s wellbeing programme or an early-careers wellbeing programme. Tell us your context on the discovery call and we’ll suggest a sequence.

Confidence at Work Workshop: FAQs

About the workshop content and methodology

Is this another “just believe in yourself” workshop?

No — deliberately not. The workshop is grounded in behavioural activation, self-perception theory and the neuroscience of habit. Everything we cover has a research base behind it. We don’t do affirmations, “you’re enough” scripts or generic motivational content. This session works because it treats confidence as a set of learnable behaviours, not a fixed personality trait or a mindset problem.

What’s meant by “behavioural activation”?

Behavioural activation is the evidence-based principle that action comes first and feeling follows. Waiting to feel confident before you act is the trap that keeps most people stuck. The workshop teaches the reverse pattern: identify the confident action you’d take if you already felt confident, take it, and let the feeling follow. This is how confidence actually builds — through repeated action, not through mindset work alone.

Audience and use cases

Is this workshop specifically for women?

No — the workshop works for any audience where confidence is a live theme. It’s frequently booked by women’s networks and ERGs because confidence is a persistent conversation there. It’s also frequently booked for mixed teams, individual contributor cohorts, graduate schemes, and early-careers programmes. The content adapts naturally to whichever audience is in the room.

Does this work as an ERG or women’s network event?

Yes — this is one of our most-booked formats for women’s networks, women’s ERGs and mixed inclusion networks. Runs particularly well around International Women’s Day (March) or as a signature autumn women’s programme moment. The webinar format works for global reach; the in-person format works for intimate cohort sessions.

Delivery and cost

Can this be delivered as a webinar for global teams?

Yes — the workshop is designed to work equally well as a live webinar or in-person session. Virtual delivery uses Slido polling and interactive elements throughout to keep engagement high across time zones. Sessions can be recorded for on-demand use so people who couldn’t attend live can still access the content.

How much does the Confidence at Work Workshop cost?

Pricing depends on format (webinar vs in-person), audience size, level of tailoring and whether you’re booking standalone or as part of a wider programme. Book a discovery call and we’ll send a specific quote within 48 hours. Multi-workshop bookings — particularly Confidence + Imposter Syndrome as a paired programme — are priced more favourably than one-offs.
