Wellbeing for Carers Workshop: What you need to know:
Carer’s Week is 8-14 June 2026. Read our Carer’s Week at Work blog for ways to support working carers at your workplace.
Wellbeing Support for Working Carers – Because caring is a full-time job, even when you have a pay-cheque.
Often described as the “silent workforce,” 7 million people in the UK are carers (predicted to rise as high as 10.6 million) — juggling paid work with unpaid caring responsibilities for loved ones. Many struggle in silence: Overwhelmed, exhausted, under-supported.
Our Wellbeing for Carers programme offers organisations a practical, compassionate way to support staff who carry this dual load — helping carers thrive, stay in work, and bring their best to both family and job.
The Carers Leave Act 2023 entitles all employees to take up to five days of unpaid carer’s leave to give or arrange care for a dependant. Organisations that move beyond compliance to genuine support gain on retention, engagement and culture.
60 minutes. Led by an executive coach with 25 years of global experience and lived carer experience. In-person UK or virtual worldwide.
What this Wellbeing for Carers Workshop covers:
The session is structured around three deliberate phases: Explore → Practical wellbeing tools → Bespoke actions. Participants leave with a personalised wellbeing action plan, not just information.
- Setting the scene: The reality of working and caring — the global picture, an honest group check-in, and the patterns of stress and burnout specific to carers.
- Maintaining Healthy Boundaries: The most-requested area. Six categories of boundaries carers need, plus a practical framework for sorting where to invest your limited energy.
- Harnessing Strengths: A strengths-based reflection on what you bring to the carer role, plus an energy audit to identify boosters, drainers, and the small adjustments that meaningfully shift the balance.
- Prioritising Positivity: Practical positive psychology — not toxic positivity. Real tools for carers to consciously broaden their emotional resources.
- Empathy vs Compassion: One of the workshop’s most valuable frameworks — the distinction that protects carer sustainability over the long haul.
- The 5 Ways to Wellbeing: The NHS-endorsed framework adapted specifically for the carer context.
- Personal action plan: Every participant leaves with a personalised wellbeing action plan. Interactive throughout — designed for working carers who don’t have endless time to absorb material.

Workshop outcomes
After the session, working carers leave with:
- A clearer understanding of the boundary between empathy and compassion — and why it matters for carer sustainability
- Specific tools for protecting their own wellbeing while continuing to care
- The 5 Ways to Wellbeing framework applied to the specific reality of caring
- A reframed view of the carer identity — not just “exhausted and overwhelmed” but resourced and resilient
- A practical sense of where to invest energy first when everything feels urgent
Why supporting carers matters — for them and for your business
- The Carer’s Leave Act 2023 entitles all employees to take up to five days of unpaid carer’s leave to give or arrange care for a dependant
- 75% of carers in employment worry about continuing to juggle work and care
- 600 people a day leave work to care, unable to juggle the demands of work and care
- Carer-friendly workplaces see measurable benefits: Better staff retention, reduced absenteeism, higher wellbeing, and a culture of loyalty and trust
Supporting carers isn’t just fairness. It’s smart business strategy
When this workshop is the right fit:

- Carer’s Week (8-14 June 2026): Our peak booking moment for this workshop.
- You’re responding to the Carer’s Leave Act 2023: Workshop pairs naturally with policy implementation.
- You’re building or refreshing your Families ERG: Carers ERGs are one of the fastest-growing employee resource group categories.
- Your engagement survey has surfaced caring as an unmet need: Carers are often the “silent workforce” — only visible when they leave.
- You’re addressing mid-career retention: Caring responsibilities peak in mid-career, and unsupported carers are one of the leading causes of senior departures.
Particularly valuable for: Professional services and financial services with significant mid-career populations; healthcare workforces (often caring in two directions); growth-stage tech where the “silent workforce” pattern is most invisible; consulting firms with sandwich-generation employees; public sector with established carer-support frameworks.

Wellbeing for Carers Workshop: FAQs
Who counts as a “carer”?
Anyone with unpaid caring responsibilities for a family member, partner or friend who needs support due to illness, disability, age or addiction. This includes elderly parent care, child-with-disability care, partner care, end-of-life support, and the “sandwich generation” caring in multiple directions.
Is this workshop only for people currently caring?
The workshop is most relevant for active carers, but it’s increasingly booked for mixed audiences as inclusive education — managers and colleagues benefit from understanding the carer experience, and many people will become carers at some point in their working lives.
Will participants need to share personal experiences?
No. The workshop is designed to land without forced sharing. Reflection is private, and the content normalises the carer experience without putting anyone on the spot.
Is it suitable for senior leadership?
Yes — and we specifically recommend it. Caring responsibilities increasingly affect senior leaders, and they’re often the audience most reluctant to acknowledge it. The workshop creates safe space for the topic at every level.
Can the workshop be tailored?
Yes. We adapt for audience (carers-only, mixed inclusive, leadership cohort) and specific themes (elderly care, dependent disability, sandwich generation, end-of-life caring).
Can we tie this to Carer’s Week?
Yes — Carer’s Week (8-14 June 2026) is our peak booking moment. Book early.
Do you deliver to international teams?
Yes. Virtual delivery works across North America, Europe, the Middle East and APAC. Some legal context (Carer’s Leave Act) is UK-specific, but the underlying carer experience is universal.
What does it cost?
Tailored pricing based on duration, format and whether you’re booking standalone or as part of a programme. Multi-workshop bookings are priced more favourably. Book a discovery call and we’ll send a quote within 48 hours.
