Working parents and carers make up a significant share of every UK workforce — and they carry an invisible second shift most workplaces never see. Our Families at Work workshops give HR teams and employers a practical, evidence-based way to support them.

Our Families at Work workshops

Wellbeing for Working Parents

60-minute practical workshop for working parents managing the juggle — stress, boundaries, mental load, partner negotiation, the school-run-and-Slack reality. Led by an executive coach who’s also a working mother. The bookable centrepiece for Parents ERGs.

Book if you have: A parents ERG · A post-maternity returner programme · A wellbeing week with a families theme · Senior leaders asking for support during peak parenting years

wellbeing_for_carers

Wellbeing for Carers

60-minute practical workshop equipping working carers with tools for balance, resilience and self-care — because caring is a full-time job even when you have a pay-cheque. Led by an executive coach with lived carer experience. Often the first time an employer has explicitly named carers in their wellbeing offer.

Book if you have: A growing population of mid-career carers · An ageing workforce demographic · Visible attrition among senior women · A wellbeing programme that addresses parents but not carers (a common gap)

digital_wellbeing_working_parents

Digital Wellbeing for Working Parents

Practical workshop equipping working parents to manage their children’s screen time, social media use and tech relationships — the wellbeing concern parents most often say they need help with. Led by a GP with a special interest in adolescent mental health.

Book if you have: Parents asking about children’s screen time · A digital wellbeing strategy that’s currently only employee-facing · Particular interest in adolescent mental health · A teen/preteen-heavy parent demographic in your workforce

Supporting Pregnancy & Baby Loss in the Workplace

60-minute workshop helping line managers, HR teams and ERGs support employees through pregnancy loss, baby loss and infant loss. Led by a Clinical Psychologist. 10% of sales donated to Tommy’s. The workshop most clients say they wish they’d booked sooner — pregnancy loss affects 1 in 4 pregnancies and almost every workplace is touched by it.

Book if you have: Line managers who’ve asked how to handle this · A Baby Loss Awareness Week moment in October · A women’s health or fertility focus in your wellbeing strategy · A culture where you’d like staff to feel they can talk about this

Why supporting working parents and carers matters

finding_balance_working_parents_workshop

Working parents

Around 75% of UK mothers and 92% of UK fathers with dependent children are in employment. The juggle — childcare logistics, school runs, sick days, mental load — is a structural pressure that doesn’t show up in absence stats but does show up in retention, presenteeism, and post-maternity drop-off.

Most working parents say their employer doesn’t really understand what the juggle is actually like. That’s an easy gap to close — not with policy alone, but with practical workshops that name the experience and give working parents real tools.

Working carers

One in seven UK workers is also a working carer – caring for a parent, partner, adult child, sibling or grandchild — and the number is rising fast as the population ages. Carers leave the workforce at higher rates than any other group, and most don’t tell their employers what’s going on at home.

The cost is structural: lost talent, lost institutional knowledge, lost senior women in particular (carers are disproportionately women in mid-career). Targeted carer wellbeing workshops are one of the highest-leverage things an employer can offer.

Why “Families at Work” as a single hub

Working parents and working carers face different specific challenges, but the underlying experience is the same — invisible labour outside work that shapes their experience inside work. Treating both as part of a single Families at Work strategy is how the more thoughtful employers are now thinking about it. ERGs are increasingly framed as “Parents & Carers” rather than parents alone.

What our clients say

UMG

I found the workshop facilitator to be SO helpful. I really felt like she was speaking DIRECTLY to me and the struggles I was having as a working parent. Not that she was able to fix the problem, because it is not really fixable but just to be SEEN and feel that I am not alone really helped me to be easier on myself.

The Pregnancy & Baby Loss at Work workshop was very helpful. We have already had good feedback from some attendees who have let us know the value it holds for them and it has also raised some really good things that we could do to provide further support to colleagues. Overall, really worth the time and cost!

british_gas_workplace_Wellness

When you’re caring for someone or others, you don’t always have time out to evaluate how you’re feeling. This workshop gave me time and helped focus my mind.

The Families at Work programme view

Most thoughtful employers book the workshops as a year-long Families at Work programme rather than one-off sessions. A typical pattern:

  • Q1 — Wellbeing for Working Parents (post-Christmas / January reset)
  • Q2 — Wellbeing for Carers (around Carers Week in June)
  • Q3 — Digital Wellbeing for Working Parents (back-to-school / autumn)
  • Q4 — Supporting Pregnancy & Baby Loss (Baby Loss Awareness Week, October)

This gives every part of the families-at-work experience a moment in the year — without front-loading everything into one wellbeing month and burning out the audience.

Multi-workshop programme bookings are priced more favourably than one-offs. Worth scoping on a discovery call.hop sounds like it was built for your people — because it was.

How Families at Work pairs with our other hubs

The Families at Work workshops sit naturally alongside:

  • Women’s Wellbeing — Managing Menopause at Work and Women’s Nutrition pair particularly well with the Carer and Working Parents workshops, since these audiences overlap substantially
  • Men’s Wellbeing — Men’s Midlife Health pairs naturally with Wellbeing for Carers (many male carers are caring for ageing parents while in midlife themselves)
  • Mental Health at Work — Mental Health Training for Managers gives line managers the broader skillset to follow up on what the Families at Work workshops surface

Supporting Working Parents a

nd Carers Workshops FAQs

What workshops do you offer for supporting working parents?

Two workshops focused specifically on working parents: Wellbeing for Working Parents (the practical juggle workshop — stress, boundaries, mental load) and Digital Wellbeing for Working Parents (managing children’s screen time). Both can be booked as standalone sessions or as part of a Families at Work programme.

What workshops do you offer for working carers?

Wellbeing for Carers is the dedicated workshop — a 60-minute practical session led by an executive coach with lived carer experience. It’s the workshop most often booked around Carers Week in June, but it works year-round and is often the first time an employer has explicitly named carers in their wellbeing offer.

Do you offer coaching for carers, or just group workshops?

The standard delivery is group workshops, but the workshop facilitator is an executive coach by background — so 1:1 or small-group follow-on coaching can be scoped if you want that. We can also extend the workshop to 90 minutes with deeper exercises and small-group breakout work. Discuss on the discovery call.

Can we book all the Families at Work workshops as a programme?

Yes — most thoughtful employers do. A year-long programme covering all four workshops (Working Parents, Carers, Digital Wellbeing for Working Parents, Pregnancy & Baby Loss) gives every part of the families-at-work experience a moment in the year and is priced more favourably than one-offs.

FAQs – Logistics

Who delivers these workshops?

Each workshop is led by a specialist with both professional credentials and lived experience: executive coaches with carer or parent experience for the wellbeing workshops; a GP with adolescent mental health experience for the Digital Wellbeing workshop; a Clinical Psychologist for the Pregnancy & Baby Loss workshop. We choose facilitators on the basis that they understand the experience first-hand, not just academically.

Are these workshops in-person or virtual?

Both. Live in-person delivery across the UK and virtual delivery worldwide. The Pregnancy & Baby Loss workshop is virtual-only out of care for the audience.

Who in our team should book this?

HR business partners, DEI leads, wellbeing programme owners, and Parents & Carers ERG sponsors. We work directly with ERG leads as well, and can join an ERG planning call if that helps you scope the right workshop(s).

What does it cost?

Pricing depends on workshop count, format (one-off vs programme), audience size and location. Multi-workshop programmes are priced more favourably than one-offs. Book a discovery call and we’ll send a clear quote within 48 hours.
