Much like the obligatory office fruit bowl, a corporate yoga class is no longer just a ‘nice to have’, but a necessity we believe no workplace in 2018 should be without.
We’ve been running our popular corporate yoga classes for 8 years now and in that time, have amassed a long list of reasons why yoga in the workplace makes business sense. Here’s our top 5:
Yoga will help de-stress your staff.
With mental ill health now the leading cause for absenteeism and the stress of an unmanageable workload cited as the main reason for time off work, stress has a lot to answer for. Luckily, yoga has been proven to reduce the secretion of ‘cortisol’ aka the stress hormone, and multiple studies have shown that a course of yoga classes can help reduce stress and anxiety.

Yoga will help you sleep
Sleep deprivation is arguably an epidemic of our times, with 1/3 of Brits getting by on less than 6 hours sleep a night – leading to low mood, lost productivity and a heightened risk of obesity, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and heart problems.
Studies have found people who practice yoga fall asleep faster, sleep for longer and feel better rested in the morning than those who don’t practice. What’s more, yoga is found to increase the production of melatonin – a hormone necessary for regulating your sleep cycle.

Corporate Yoga classes help attract and retain talent
Attracting and retaining the next generation of top talent requires more than just a job role. New recruits – and millennials in particular, have high standards when it comes to choosing an employer. Offering yoga classes and a wellness programme not only shows your company is on trend, but it’s the perfect way to show your potential and current employees you value them – by valuing what they value.

It’s super simple to set up
All you need is an available space, such as a boardroom or meeting room and a yoga mat each. No technical gym equipment or fancy footwear required. Simply decide when you’d like your class, be it before, during or after work, and book your teacher.
Yoga is for everyone
Due to the increase in the working age population, there has never been a wider range of ages working under one roof. Employees now range from grads right up to the almost retired. Luckily, an office yoga class will appeal to each and every one of them. A good yoga teacher will pitch a class that appeals to all abilities, offering more challenging and slightly easier, allowing the students to pick their own pace, whatever their age or ability.
